Senior Associate Director, University Housing - Residence Life

Reporting to the Senior Director for University Housing and Auxiliary Services, the Senior Associate Director, University Housing-Residence Life is responsible for the planning, oversight, and strategic management of residential life and community development for the approximately 13,000 undergraduates, graduate students, and students with families who reside in the University’s residence halls and apartments. The Senior Associate Director provides supervision and general direction to Undergraduate Residence Education, Graduate Residence Education, front desk operations, living learning communities, and conduct and restorative justice. In addition, the Senior Associate Director supports, and provides leadership for, initiatives that strengthen co-curricular learning and prepare students for success in a complex, multicultural, and changing world as involved citizens and leaders. Direct reports to the Senior Associate Director are the Assistant Director Housing Conduct and Conflict Resolution, Director Graduate Residence Education, and Director Undergraduate Residence Education. The Senior Associate Director provides leadership for 75 FTE staff members and oversees a budget of $7 million.
A master’s degree in student personnel, higher education or a comparable field and a minimum of six years of progressively responsible supervisory and management experience in housing and residence life are required. A doctoral degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess strategic thinking and planning skills; the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, faculty, and staff at all levels in a complex and diverse environment; knowledge of facility management, student development, collaborative learning, residence hall/apartment programming, learning communities/special interest housing, and staff development; demonstrated personal and professional commitment to diversity and a solid understanding of, and appreciation for, cultural, ethnic, and individual differences; and a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and work effectively in an environment characterized by change.
