University of Maryland University College is seeking a Course Evaluation Coordinator. Reporting to the Research Supervisor, the Course Evaluation Coordinator is responsible for ensuring complete and accurate end-of-course evaluation data collection, analysis, and dissemination. The incumbent collaborates with institutional stakeholders to coordinate the technical and administrative functions associated with the systems used for end-of-course evaluations.

 

 

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES INCLUDE:

 

  • Ensure that evaluations are collected and processed in a timely manner according to university policy and to term schedules.
    • Download list of courses from EvaluationKit and check if all courses have been uploaded
    • Investigate any discrepancies
    • Check the course evaluation end dates to make sure that they match with the class end date in PeopleSoft
  • Prepare and disseminate the course evaluation schedule each term
  • Run session upload schedule and share with IT
  • Maintain the course evaluation intranet webpage and the course evaluation distribution lists
  • Manage and maintain the course evaluation archives and documentation (e.g. raw data, carbon copies of burst emails, ad-hoc course evaluation reports)
  • Testing of the course evaluation system and the validation of course evaluation data and reports
  • Deliver automated email bursts and/or posting of course evaluation summaries to faculty portals
  • Respond to students, faculty and staff course evaluation inquiries and special requests
  • Assist with the analysis and processing of data from the course evaluation process such as
    • Download and check raw data for processing
    • Calculate response rates by campus, school, department and program
    • Compare course evaluation aggregate measures
  • Provide course evaluation data for Academic Program Reviews, Faculty Performance reviews and both institutional and program accreditations
  • Provide ad-hoc course evaluation reports
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

 

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

 

 

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in a related field such as statistics, mathematics, educational research, or computer science. One to three years of work experience. Two years' experience with research and data analysis, preferably in a higher education setting.

 

 

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Proficiency with MS Office, especially with MS Excel, and data warehouses
  • Familiarity with analysis, planning and reporting and using relational databases 
  • Experience collecting, cleaning and analyzing data
  • Experience with presentation and visualization of data
  • Ability to apply basic statistical concepts and analysis (e.g. data distribution, means and standard deviation, regression and correlation)
  • Problem solving skills with a sense of urgency in resolving issues and getting tasks completed
  • Ability and natural inclination to collaborate and develop relationships with a wide variety of individuals in various units across an institution by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to comprehend and operationalize complex concepts
  • Ability to simplify and explain complex concepts in a manner end users can understand
  • Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
