Serves as an instructor and assists in the evaluation of student progress for the Adult Center for Transition (ACT). The ACT instructor, will work closely with other ACT staff to teach individuals with developmental and other disabilities the skills necessary to successfully transition to adult life.

Examples of Duties:

  1. Provides academic instruction within content areas such as; reading, writing, math, communication skills, technology, workforce readiness skills, civics, activities of daily living skills, healthy relationships and community based instruction.
  2. Offers individual, small group, and large group instruction as necessary.
  3. Organizes and plans instruction and materials based on student's individual needs.
  4. Participates in the development of evaluation tools, long and short-term objectives associated with student achievement and outcomes.
  5. Documents and maintains records of student performance as required by Rowan College at Gloucester County and state and local agencies, as necessarily.
  6. Demonstrates instructional organization skills including differentiated teaching, varied assessment and presentation strategies to ensure student engagement.
  7. Attends meetings and programs pertaining to ACT program, as necessary.
  8. Communicates and collaborates regularly with Director, fellow instructors, and other staff to discuss progress, questions, and concerns as it pertains to student performance.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree required; Masters Degree, preferred
  • Teacher of Students with Disabilities State Certification, preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working with individuals with developmental and other disabilities, preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office
