This research includes attempts to find radiologic and electroencephalographic markers of epileptogenic brain regions, and novel methods of identifying brain areas that need to be spared by surgery, such as ones that are important for speech, movement, and memory. We proudly participate in research endeavors that aim at improving seizure control without compromising important brain functions. Our clinical research focuses on investigating new treatments for temporal lobe epilepsy that aim at sparing or improving memory.
The Postdoctoral Scientist position will support the research laboratory’s focus of studying the effects of electrical stimulation on seizures by: 1) planning and conducting research experiments which include, but are not limited to using different animal models of epilepsy, stereotactic implantation of electrodes in rat brain and recording seizures by video and EEG; 2) collecting and analyzing data; and 3) preparing research results for publication in reports, papers and/or journals.
