Veteran Assistant (Part-Time, Grant-Funded)
A bachelor’s degree and effective computer and communication skills are required.
One (1) to two (2) years of experience working with non-traditional student populations or assisting students with career planning is preferred.
Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to multi-task, interact with a diverse student body, and be a team player with internal and external constituents.
The successful candidate will provide the veteran student population with individualized and group career counseling utilizing college and veteran resources.
They will also work in conjunction with both Veteran Services and Career Services in meeting the career exploration and job search needs of our student veterans.
Duties also include, but are not limited to, the following:
Meets with new and continuing veteran students to access and address their educational needs;
Briefs students on how to use eBenefits to apply for and check on their educational benefits;
Develops and facilitates resume building workshops, career exploration workshops and others as needed, meeting the needs of our student veteran population;
Researches employer programs aimed at hiring veterans and develops appropriate materials to disseminate the information;
Works with Admissions to reach out to those applicants who have identified themselves as a veteran to promote the services available;
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Adult Learner Services.
Special Instructions to Applicants:
This is a part-time position that is grant funded through June 30, 2017. Each work week will consist of a maximum of 29 hours.
