The Assistant Director plans, develops, administers, supervises, and coordinates all administrative functions and services of the Division for Continuing and International Education’s Distance Learning Institute (DLI).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Contributes ideas and viewpoints to the Associate Dean, or designee, on operational and strategic plans for the DLI.
• Supervises and coordinates the planning and creation of distance education courses.
• Makes daily independent decisions to ensure DLI objectives are met and that University policies and procedures are followed.
• Manages and exercises responsibility and accountability for the administrative budget and operational forecasts. Monitors budget and identifies opportunities for increasing revenue and ensuring compliance with policies.
• Ensures all vendors and/or service providers are performing at highest levels of productivity.
• Manages and coordinates the activities of all DLI personnel to ensure high level of performance, achievement of goals and quality of results. Ensures staff is trained, developed and empowered to effectively perform their roles.
• Develops goals and objectives for the staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to lead and manage online course development teams (e.g., instructional designers, academic technologists/content strategists, graphic designers, etc.) to produce state of the art online courses.
• Ability to express ideas and information, clearly, concisely, verbally and writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with subordinates, superiors, and officials of other departments.
• Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to solve problems, develop plans and reports, and plan initiatives.
• Demonstrated ethical behavior, professionalism, interpersonal skills, leadership and management abilities.

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):
• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.

Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):
Three years of relevant work experience required including the following:
• Proficiency in the use of a learning management system (e.g., Blackboard, Moodle, Canvas, etc.) including customization of course shells, discussion forums, and assessment tools.
• Proficiency in the use of content authoring tools (e.g., Captivate, Articulate, Softchalk, etc.).
• Fluency in the operations of an online learning environment (e.g., prior experience at an online school/college, etc.) including project management and program development. Apply online. Position #: P00006388.
