Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Vice President for Administration, the Director of Human Relations Compliance will plan, organize, investigate, coordinate, direct and manage the daily activities and operations of the university’s equal employment opportunity office to ensure a fair, equitable and accessible working and learning environment. The Director of Human Relations Compliance will serve as the university’s Deputy Title IX and Equal Opportunity Coordinator.

Responsibilities:               

  •   Lead the Human Relations Compliance Office through transformation and organizational change to actively and outwardly foster a more inclusive university environment; to improve the effectiveness of the office when addressing and resolving complaints; and reposition the office as a leader and collaborative partner with university constituents.
  •   Coordinate the university’s compliance with and provide technical assistance and consultation on regulatory requirements in the areas of equal opportunity, Title VI, Title VII, and Title IX.
  •   Oversee all Title IX complaints and reports of gender discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual violence and allegations of sexual misconduct as they impact students or the academic environment.
  •   Identify and address any systemic problems relating to complaints, and work with other departments to ensure Title IX and equal opportunity policies are communicated to all constituencies.
  •   Monitor, review, analyze and conduct internal audits of university policies, processes and systems and make recommendations regarding the university compliance with equal opportunity, Title VI, Title VII, and Title IX.
  •   Consult with Human Resources and university academic and administrative departments on effective strategies to recruit, hire, promote, and retain a diverse workforce of faculty and staff.
  •   Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Vice President for Administration or the President.

Professional Competencies:

  • Expert professional knowledge of and experience understanding federal and state laws, regulations and guidance pertaining to equal opportunity, discrimination, and sexual harassment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, cooperatively and collaboratively across a complex organizational structure.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations and information with diplomacy and tact, and to act calmly and objectively in both sensitive and crisis situations.
  • Extensive experience investigating and resolving complaints of discrimination based on race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, color.

Qualification

Master’s Degree preferred. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with seven years of progressively responsible related

professional experience (such as equal opportunity or civil rights compliance).

Physical Requirements:

 

 

Walking, sitting, standing, squatting, and lifting a minimum of 25 pounds.
