General Description of Position:

The Agronomy Department at Kansas State University is looking for a Research Assistant to work on greenhouse and laboratory research activities related to the Kansas Soybean Commission project aimed towards increasing the quality of beans. This individual will work closely with the crop physiology team and estimate bean quality parameters including amino acids, protein, starch etc from large set of seed samples obtained from the Soybean breeding team, using the highthroughput NIRS platform, validate findings using alternative wet chemistry and collaborate with the breeding program to help add value to ongoing soybean improvement. 

Required Minimum Qualifications:

BS in Agronomy or related field. Experience with many lab equipment such as high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), spectrophotometers and can independently be able to handle them and mentor graduate students on aspects related to soil and plant chemical analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

MS or PHD in Agronomy or related field. Lab instrumentation, Knowledgable with soil/plant chemistry, ability to develop and standardize lab based protocols to estimate amino acids, sugars.

Speaking, walking/running, sitting, standing and writing.

Salary Range / Pay Rate:

$33,436 - $56,841 ($16.08 - $27.33)
