The Assistant Director of Competitive Sports is responsible for the overall direction, development, and management of the Competitive Sports program for University Recreation and the University of West Georgia campus community. The Competitive Sports program consists of three primary areas that include Intramural Sports, Club Sports, and student development education and training.
Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in higher education/college student affairs, sports management, recreation, or other related field; must be able to lead, train, and supervise individuals in various sporting activities and settings; understanding of risk management principles, industry standards in competitive sports programming.
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education, or related field. Must have at least 2-3 years of experience in competitive sports programming and collegiate recreation; experience in supervising undergraduate students; knowledge of rules and concepts in various competitive sports and activities; ability to teach officiating in various sports and evaluate student officials’ performances; strong communication and customer service skills; ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and the community at large are required; prior experience in sports officiating.
Salary: $17.76 minimum - $25.07 midpoint
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Ability to stand, walk, and run for extended periods of time. Must be able to move/lift heavy equipment consisting of sport goals and trailers up to 75 pounds. Must be able to handle cleaning chemicals such as bleach and broad spectrum disinfectant.
