The College of Health Professions is accepting applications for a 10-month tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor or Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor position to teach Gerontology and related subjects in the BA/BS Gerontology major and minor in the Department of Interprofessional Health Studies beginning August 2017.


Research doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in gerontology or related field required for tenure track consideration. Doctoral degree preferred for clinical appointment. ABD applications considered, but appointment will be at the Instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2018. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of teaching excellence in gerontology or in gerontological practice and an active program of scholarship. Other requirements: ability to develop collaborative relationships across disciplines and with external health and human service partners, active participation in state and/or national professional organizations; expertise in higher education or in the field of gerontology. Candidates who wish to be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor must meet all requirements for promotion to the Associate Professor rank at Towson University.


Tenure track faculty assigned an instructional workload of six (6) course units per academic year for the first year. Beginning the second year the workload assigned is a standard instructional workload of seven to eight (7-8) course units per academic year. Clinical faculty hired at any rank will teach eight (8) course units per academic year. Opportunities for graduate teaching and program coordination are available depending upon the applicant’s interest, rank and experience.
