The University of Virginia (UVA) School of Nursing invites nominations and applications for the Betty Norman Norris Endowed Professorship in Nursing. This distinctive professorship, honoring the exemplary teaching and compassion of Betty Norris, will support the work of an eminent nurse scientist inspired by the opportunity to work with faculty, staff, and students in the Schools of Nursing and Medicine and with colleagues in the UVA Health System. The Betty Norman Norris Professor will provide leadership as Co-Director of the UVA Center for Academic Strategic Partnerships for Interprofessional Research and Education (UVA Center for ASPIRE) to develop research and scholarship in the area of interprofessional education and collaborative practice.

The UVA Center for ASPIRE is recognized internationally for its innovative educational programs and cutting-edge research in IPE and collaborative practice. The Center has been successful in garnering grant support, and the interprofessional ASPIRE faculty team has generated numerous scholarly publications and presentations. The ASPIRE Center is one of three national sites for the interprofessional Train-the-Trainer Faculty Development Program (T3 FDP) and hosts renowned scholars from around the globe.

The professor who takes this endowed chair will be a distinguished scientist with a well-established record of research. We are seeking an excellent teacher with a passion for creating a collaborative scholarly and pedagogical environment to support junior faculty and students. Candidates must have a PhD in nursing or in a related field and be eligible for licensure in Virginia. Joint appointments with other UVA schools may be possible.
