Job Description

Open rank tenure-track position in Writing Studies. The successful candidate will be hired as the founding chair of a new department dedicated to rhetoric, composition, and writing studies, which will include an award-winning First-Year Writing Program and an established minor in Professional & Public Writing. This is a rare opportunity to build new undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a collaborative, forward-thinking department. Areas of specialization may include, but are not limited to, composition pedagogy and theory; rhetorical theories and histories, including rhetorics of disability, race, digital rhetoric and pedagogies; writing program administration; literacy studies; English language learners, and multilingualism; professional and technical communication; or comparative rhetorics.

Qualifications & Requirements

Ph.D. in Rhetoric, Writing, Technical Communication or related field. Successful candidates will demonstrate an established record of research, publication, grant writing, and administrative experience commensurate with advanced rank. We particularly seek applicants with an interest in collaborating with faculty across the university to expand the impact of Writing Studies throughout the university.
