Position Status: Administrative Exempt Positions
-Manage and process all student loan programs including federal direct loans, Massachusetts No Interest loans, WPI loans, and private loan programs.
- Create and adjust financial aid awards for new and current students.
-Provide professional financial aid counseling and support to prospective and current students.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
-Manage all student and parent loans borrowed through the Federal Direct Loans, Massachusetts No Interest Loan, WPI and private loan programs.
-Responsible for accurate and timely submission of loan origination and other data submission records through the COD, EdConnect, ECSI and ELM systems.
-Counsel student aid applicants, aid recipients and their parent(s) with regard to their rights and responsibilities associated with financial aid and federal, state, institutional and private student and parent loan borrowing.
-Manage student financial aid documents and data in Banner and Salesforce systems.
-Serve as official liaison for loan reconciliation and disbursement with the bursar’s office and financial services division.
-Review and monitor weekly student loan reports for all undergraduate and graduate loan borrowers.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director or Executive Director.
-Provide excellent financial aid counseling and customer service to students, parents, and other authorized individuals. Counseling forums include individual in-person appointments, private phone sessions, and written/e-mail correspondence.
-Serve as troubleshooter between students and financial aid directors by requesting detailed information from inquirers before speaking with awarding directors.
-Create and adjust financial aid packages.
-Execute adjustments and assignments including verification, outside scholarship adjustments, restricted funds assignments, and other necessary individualized changes to student awards as needed.
-Use sound professional judgment in response to highly sensitive, confidential issues regarding the administration of financial aid awards.
-Use critical listening skills to ensure accuracy of information provided to inquirers.
-Communicate effectively with a diverse population in a professional manner using tact, poise, patience and courtesy
-Bachelor degree required
-1-2 years of professional experience required. Preference given to prior financial aid and/or higher education experience.
-Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
-Ability to work well under pressure while prioritizing and managing multiple tasks.
-Possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and positively with a diverse population both verbally and in writing.
-Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently.
-Possess a comfort level with software applications and ability to quickly adapt to new technologies.
-Physical requirements are within the normal range of an office environment, but may include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 10 pounds.
-Assist office with search process for new staff hires (i.e. applicant review, interviews, and evaluation of candidates)
-Assist office with training with new team member hires.
-Must be able and willing to work overtime during peak times.
-Willing to work at WPI events during non-business hours.
-Other duties as assigned.
-Hours of work: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
-The salary range for this position is $34,000 - $36,000 per year.
