Job Summary: The Camp Northwoods Co-Directors are responsible for planning and implementing Camp Northwoods (Skidmore's Day Camp for children entering grades 1 -6) while working closely with the ODSP staff and operating within the New York State Department of Health Camp Guidelines. The Co-Directors are jointly responsible for staffing the camp, implementing programs, scheduling activities, organizing events and managing the staff. Each Co-Director has specific duties that fall within those general responsibilities. A Co-Director can assume the duties of the other Co-Director in the case of absenteeism, emergencies, and managing the camp staff and children if in split locations (e.g., field trips, programmed activities in different locales, etc.).

  • Staff: recruit, review resumes and applications, interview, and select all camp staff.

  • Train all camp staff through pre-camp orientation.

  • Follow and execute Camp Safety Plan.

  • Organize and manage all record keeping and evaluation processes for the day camp.

  • Manages and records expenditures for camp budget.

  • Oversee the development and execution of the program, activities, and the schedule.

  • Collaborate with ODSP staff to meet the mission and financial goals of the camp program.

  • Carry out daily camp duties such as supervision, announcements, working with parents, discipline, communication through phone and emails, and transportation.

  • Serve as the main contact for parents


  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (preferred fields: recreation, education, or related) or equivalent experience. Previous work experience at children's camp or in primary education setting. Must be at least 21 years of age.

    Preferred Qualifications: Excellent interpersonal skills. Current Certifications in CPR and First Aid, Respond to Emergencies. Prior experience with NYS Dept. of Health inspections.
