Job Description: POSITION TITLE: MANAGER, NURSING LABORATORY LFNURS-MNGR01 STATUS: Full-time DEPARTMENT: Nursing DIVISION: Academic Affairs CLASSIFICATION: Exempt UNION: Non-union REPORTS TO: Dean of Nursing, Health & Public Services PLACEMENT: Professional staff grade 10 MINIMUM PAY RATE: $60,862 annually Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. POSITION SUMMARY Manages the day to day running of the Nursing Skills and Simulation Lab (NSL) setting. Supervises the nursing and clerical staff in the NSL. Assists the clerical and nursing staff with duties and tasks as needed. Assists the dean and the department chair with budgetary matters involving the lab. Selects, schedules, and supervises student workers for the department. Acts as a clinical nursing resource to the NSL nursing and clerical staff and student workers. Works with potential and current students as needed to improve their success in the nursing program. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Serve as the supervisor of the clerical and nursing staff of the NSL. Responsible for hiring, initial and ongoing training, evaluation, and discipline of staff and tutors. 2. Select and supervise student workers in collaboration with clerical and nursing staff. 3. Run simulations in collaboration with the Simulation Coordinator to optimize the use of the Simulation Lab as needed. 4. Validate nursing skills for prospective advanced placement students. 5. Participate in nursing skills testing in collaboration with the faculty 6. Assist the department chair with budgetary planning, analysis, and cost-containment. 7. Serve as the NSL liaison between the NSL staff and the faculty. 8. Collaborate with faculty in implementing NSL learning experiences for students. 9. Communicate with faculty regarding students' progress and skill development. 10. Assist the NSL Coordinators and Simulation Coordinators with the analysis of student evaluations. Use data to facilitate changes in processes or services. 11. Develop annual and ad-hoc reports for department chairperson regarding lab usage, student satisfaction, and other indicators as warranted. 12. Participate in required meetings and serve on committees. 13. Perform related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Current RN license in the State of Illinois. 2. MSN degree. 3. Two (2) years of supervisory experience. 4. Two (2) years of current clinical experience. 5. Proficiency in personal computer use and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. 6. Demonstrate clinical competence and professionalism thereby serving as a role model to the staff and nursing students. 7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Five (5) years of supervisory experience. 2. Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Publisher. PHYSICAL DEMANDS 1. Standard classroom equipment and software. 2.
