The Division of Student Affairs at the University of Connecticut announces the opening of a full-time Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life (UCP 8) position for the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Plan and implement programs, services, and activities in the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life (OFSL); direct the day-to-day operation and administration of OFSL, in accordance with program goals and objectives; oversee program coordination and logistics; prepare necessary reports; resolve problems and make changes to accommodate changing priorities and needs; train, supervise and evaluate professional, classified and student staff; recommend staffing needs; determine work assignments and work schedules to most effectively meet program needs; perform office management duties for OFSL; direct the workflow and supervise the necessary administrative paperwork, records, complex filing system to support the office, including fiscal, personnel and student records; make budget recommendations and manage approved budget for OFSL; approve expenditures, within broad guidelines, and prepare budget reports and projections; if required by the program and if delegated by the supervisor, may generate income, set fees and oversee billing and accounting procedures; plan, organize and administer workshops, training programs, courses and program curricula, in accordance with OFSL goals; serve as a resource to students, staff and others on matters relating to OFSL policies, procedures and activities; engage in public relations and promotional activities for OFSL; plan and implement recruiting and promotional strategies; collect and analyze program data and participate in evaluating program effectiveness; identify problems and make changes, within prescribed guidelines, or recommend major changes; assist in developing policies and procedures; may participate in securing funding for programs and the office; oversee training and research activities that may be conducted in the office; responsible for special projects/operations which may be on-going or short-term and which require planning, coordination, supervision and thorough knowledge of programs; performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in discipline appropriate to the program to be served, and four to five years relevant experience; or Master's degree and two to four years of relevant experience; knowledge of social Greek student organizations and the ability to identify and resolve day-to-day program problems; prior experience supervising staff; experience advising college student organizations; understanding of risk management policies, procedures, and programs; experience with assessment and program evaluation, and using data to improve programs and services; involvement in relevant professional organizations; commitment to own professional growth and development; good administrative and organizational skills, including ability to identify and resolve administrative problems; ability and experience working with and advocating for diverse constituencies; ability to plan and organize workshops/training courses/curricula appropriate to the program; good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, administrators as well as external agencies/groups and the public; excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in student affairs, higher education or other relevant discipline; demonstrated ability to provide visionary, inclusive leadership to an organization; ability to engage in critical thinking and broad collaboration during strategic planning; experience with sexual harassment, harassment, bullying, hazing, and sexual assault prevention education; financial planning and budget management experience; experience with student conduct and student organization conduct; experience with alumni relations; experience with fundraising and development work (donor cultivation and stewardship).

Appointment Terms

This is a full-time, 12-month position. Anticipated salary in the mid 70's with excellent benefits. Anticipated start date is June 15, 2017.
