About The Unit:

Unit Job Summary: Assists with planning, development and execution of audio-visual productions and transmedia projects. Assists in conceptualizing the scope of each project communications strategy/needs assessment) and develops solutions, including research, writing, and copyediting to meet identified client needs. Schedules A/V shoots and organizes pre-production, production and post-production equipment, materials and process. May assist with planning and executing online outreach projects. May mentor students in audio and video production and post-production. Ensures that A/V projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the user's satisfaction. The A/V Specialist supports Ci3's Transmedia Story Lab and ensures that its audiovisual activities serve a pedagogical and research support function. Collaborates with other staff in Transmedia Story Lab in the design, development and implementation of narrative that addresses health disparities for low-income youth and foster youth development. Tests strategies and expands general knowledge of audio-based and visual narrative as tools to engage youth and address health and wellbeing of adolescents as they emerge into adulthood. Works collaboratively with the team to support youth-serving organizations locally, nationally and globally to engage youth in narrative-based work. Conducts periodic training for fellow staff to ensure that all staff understands how A/V fits in with the lab's current and potential project(s). Training might include sessions on such topics as design tools, photography, videography, augmented reality, virtual reality, sound design, audio recording or software. Contributes to the writing of methods papers, reports and final summaries.

Unit Education: Required: Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field Advanced degree in film, video production, photography or a related field preferred.

Unit Experience: Required: A minimum of one year of experience in journalism, video production, or another closely related area of communications required. Experience with audio/video recording, editing, and production technologies required.
