The Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Division of Gastroenterology of the University Health Network (UHN) and Sinai Health System (SHS) are seeking to recruit a hepatologist for The Toronto Centre for Liver Disease, University Health Network. The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. This position is for a 5-year term, renewable following a successful review, and supported by the Lily and Terry Horner Chair in Autoimmune Liver Disease Research. He/she should be a clinician scientist or a clinician investigator and have a track record consistent with this career path. Effective start date of appointment is September 2017, or shortly thereafter.

The successful candidate will be part of a large, academically successful Gastroenterology Division, with 28 full time staff physicians, gastroenterologists and hepatologists across UHN and SHS that has access to world-leading infrastructure and incorporates a full set of comprehensive tertiary programs. The successful applicant will head the Autoimmune Liver Research Group and work collaboratively with the Program Director of the Toronto Centre for Liver Disease to continue to develop leading academic and clinical programs in hepatology. Toronto Centre for Liver Disease is based within the University Health Network at the Toronto General Hospital and is one of the largest hepatology units in North America, consisting of 13 full time hepatologists and 3 clinical associates. The successful applicant should have leadership experience and a track record of achievement in research, education, creative professional activity, and will be expected to develop a successful academic strategic plan and fundraising program for autoimmune liver disease.

He/she must hold an MD degree and specialist qualifications as well as have, or be eligible for, licensure in Ontario. Academic rank, salary and contractual arrangements will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Minimum compensation will be $300,000 per year (estimate based on fee-for-service billings). Benefits including malpractice insurance (CMPA), central administration expenses and extended health to be paid through practice plan. For the successful candidate compensation will be highly competitive and with the usual income range for a senior academic hepatologist in the Province of Ontario.
