Job Description

~~Must have five (5) years experience as a journeyman heavy equipment mechanic. Must have a minimum ten (10) years experience in performing checks and repairs on equivalent types of engines, carburetors, transmissions, differentials, final drives, and suspensions.

~~Job Description - Under the general direction of a Lead/Senior Mechanic, Floor Supervisor, or Shop Supervisor will. Disassemble and assemble military equipment from technical manuals, written procedures, blueprints, engineering sketches and/or verbal instructions while adhering to all company safety and quality standards. Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical systems, mechanical assemblies, equipment systems using common test and measurement equipment. Be highly knowledgeable in today's automotive technology to include, computer systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, steering systems, and drive trains for heavy construction, military, heavy trucks, and automotive equipment. Highly knowledgeable in gas and diesel engine technology and tracked and wheeled equipment. Must be knowledgeable in OSHA Hazardous materials and waste management. Must be knowledgeable in OSHA safety procedures. Selects and uses appropriate hand and power tools and electronic test equipment and complies with acceptable quality standards using appropriate production practices and methods. Work in and have general knowledge of shop procedures as they relate to the maintenance and refurbishment upgrade of various military equipment and systems. Document supply and maintenance repair actions manually or on military or commercial computer systems. Assist junior mechanics and helpers in the accomplishment of repair tasks. Assists and provides guidance to other departments and team members with the design, stand-up and improvement of maintenance shops and corrosion treatment operations (blasting and painting). Assists with training of others in the department and gives ongoing guidance and provides supervision in the absence of the Team Leader. Must be able to work in a production environment under stringent time management schedules. Assist in Blast/Paint operations as required. Assist in other duties as directed by Shop Supervisor or Lead Technician. Maintain shop cleanliness. I understand that these are the job duties that I am to perform; any variations of these duties must be approved by supervision. In addition, must have a full range of overhaul and repair work to include fabrication and modification. Perform diagnoses and repairs for all types of failures in 12 and 24 volt electrical systems.
