Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor of French
The Modern Languages Department at Alma College invites applications for a one-year, visiting assistant professor or visiting instructor position in French. Duties will begin in August, 2017. Position is renewable for a second year upon satisfactory performance.
Required qualifications: The successful candidate will be enthusiastically willing and qualified to teach all levels of French, from 100 to upper level, including French and Francophone culture. The successful candidate will also demonstrate dedication to institutional service and inter-/intra-department cooperation as the position includes some program related service commitments, including (but not limited to) supervising and coordinating the French language assistant and student teaching assistants; and will be expected to promote the French program in various departmental activities. Experience teaching in higher education and Ph.D. or A.B.D. in French/Francophone studies (or related field) required.
Preferred qualifications: Expertise in cultural studies; expertise in Islamic Studies or the francophone world.
