Post Doctoral Fellow
A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Tucker Lab, at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, in Denver CO. The research focus of the lab is on the development of new optogenetic tools for using light to control cellular function (see: http://pharmacology.ucdenver.edu/tucker/). Protein directed evolution, yeast genetics, mammalian tissue culture, fluorescence imaging, and cell biology will all be utilized to develop and characterize novel second generation cryptochrome-based optogenetic tools for use in cell biology and neurobiology (see: Kennedy et al. 2010, "Rapid blue light induction of protein interactions in living cells", Nature Methods 7 (12), 973-975, or Taslimi et al., 2014, "An optimized optogenetic clustering tool for probing protein interaction and function. Nature Commun. 5: 4925). Applicants should be highly-motivated and accomplished, interested in creative approaches, and have (or anticipate having) a recent Ph.D. in Genetics, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a related field.
