University of Colorado - School of Medicine

Full Time Assistant Professor

The Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking a computational neuroscientist or computational physiologist to fill an open tenure-eligible junior faculty position. The applicant's research program should emphasize the use of mathematical and computational methods to address fundamental questions in physiology and/or neuroscience. We especially encourage applicants with research interests that complement and extend those existing in the Department (www.medschool.ucdenver.edu/physiology). We expect appointees to conduct vigorous independent research and to participate in professional and graduate teaching and training. This faculty position is one of two open in the Department this year, the other being in the complementary areas of systems physiology or systems neuroscience.

Appointees will join a vibrant and growing Department, as well as wider neuroscience and physiology communities at the School of Medicine. Research interests in the Department currently include computational neuroscience, sensory and motor systems neuroscience, cardiac and skeletal muscle physiology, ion channel biology, cell signaling, developmental neurobiology, and synaptic function. Extra-departmental interactions, including basic science and translational collaborations, occur naturally and are facilitated by various interdepartmental programs and centers (e.g., NIH T32-supported Neuroscience Program, www.medschool.ucdenver.edu/neuroscience; NIH T32-supported Computational Biology Program, compbio.ucdenver.edu; Integrated Physiology Program; Center for Neuro Science; NIH P30-supported Rocky Mountain Neurological Disorders Center).
