The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Cardiology, has an opening for 4 full-time Assistant or Associate Professors to work at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. This person will be a full-time attending in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) and will be part of the general CICU attending rotation with associated in-house and at home call.
The position includes an academic appointment in the Department of Pediatrics at University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine at the academic rank of Assistant or Associate Professor on a tenure track. Children's Hospital Colorado is ranked number 5 nationally among the top hospitals for children. Our cardiac program is the largest in the region, providing amongst the best outcomes in the nation. We are one of the three centers in the USA that publicly reports all six metrics for transparency (STS reporting, overall volume, volume by procedure, mortality by procedure, mortality by complexity, and more than one surgeon). We have an inter-disciplinary team that offers advanced expertise in complex congenital and acquired cardiac diseases from the neonate to the young adult. The latter includes complex neonatal surgeries, an advanced heart failure, ventricular assistance and transplant program, one of the largest pulmonary hypertension programs in the USA and a highly sophisticated cardiac intensive care program. The Heart Institute allies the work of three senior cardiovascular surgeons with a host of 35 highly specialized pediatric cardiologists, intensivists, anesthetists, physician assistants and advanced nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists and other experts. We offer training to 9 categorical Cardiology Fellows, 1 Cardiovascular Surgery Fellow and 4 Senior Fellows including an advanced CICU Fellow, and we closely collaborate in the training of PICU, Neonatology and Anesthesia fellows. The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit admits around 750 surgical and medical patients a year. We have a state-of-the-art 16-24 bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and a 16-24 bed Cardiac step-down unit. The CICU faculty members are very productive in academic endeavors and in multiple fields of interest, and our medical staff is often invited to lecture and involved with advocacy and humanitarian work both nationally and globally.
This position will provide direct patient care in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, at Children's Hospital Colorado. This position will be highly involved in teaching residents and fellows. In addition, this position will have the opportunity to participate in clinical or laboratory research.

The candidates must be board certified in pediatrics and board certified or eligible in pediatric cardiology or pediatric critical care medicine.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of Academic Medical Centers; Ability to work and collaborate across multiple sections
Additional formal training in pediatric cardiac intensive care or at least three years of attending level experience as a pediatric cardiac intensivist, with significant experience in complex neonatal cardiac intensive care, particularly with single ventricle physiology.
