BIOSTATISTICIAN - RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

NATURE OF WORK:

The Colorado Biostatistics Consortium (CBC), Department of Biostatistics and Informatics (DBI), Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH) has an opening for a full-time position at the rank of Research Associate.

The Colorado Biostatistics Consortium (CBC) is a unit in the Department of Biostatistics and Informatics (DBI) in the Colorado School of Public Health (CSPH), which supports the collaborative and consulting missions of the department. In this environment, the Colorado Biostatistics Consortium faculty and staff interact and collaborate on applied basic and clinical science research projects generated by faculty and researchers primarily at the Anschutz Medical Campus. This position will join 9 other faculty in the CBC and over two-dozen faculty and research personnel in the Department of Biostatistics and Informatics. The faculty and staff in the CBC interact and collaborate with health researchers on their basic and clinical science research projects. The collaborative research group is generally comprised of other biostatisticians, epidemiologists and clinical research scientists.

The Research Associate is a key research-faculty position in the Department. A Research Associate is expected to provide high-level, professional and scientifically rigorous biostatistics consulting and collaboration support to biomedical researchers at UCD. They are expected to become a significant contributor in their collaborations, partnering to define and shape the research direction of the team. A person in this position works with investigators on the design and analytical aspects of the research process, including: design of new studies, structuring data collection systems, the application of state-of-the-art methodologies, analyses, and preparation of abstracts, oral and poster presentations, and scientific manuscripts. Depending on the particular collaborations interesting biostatistics research opportunities may arise; although it is not the emphasis of the position.

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is the only comprehensive academic health sciences center in Colorado, the largest academic health center in the Rocky Mountain region and one of the newest education, research and patient care facilities in the world. Home to 21,000 employees, more than 4,000 degree-seeking students and two nationally recognized hospitals that handle 1.7 million patient visits each year, CU Anschutz trains the health sciences workforce of the future and fuels the economy. CU Anschutz features schools of medicine, pharmacy, dental medicine and public health, a college of nursing and a graduate school. All interconnected, these organizations collaboratively improve the quality of patient care they deliver, research they conduct, and health professionals they train.

The Colorado School of Public Health is the first and only accredited school of public health in the Rocky Mountain Region, attracting top tier faculty and students from across the country, and providing a vital contribution towards ensuring our region's health and wellbeing. Collaboratively formed in 2008 by the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, Colorado State University, and the University of Northern Colorado, the Colorado School of Public Health provides training, innovative research and community service to actively address public health issues including chronic disease, access to healthcare, environmental threats, emerging infectious diseases, and costly injuries.

PROFESSIONAL FIELD:

The position requires formal training and experience in biostatistics. A PhD in Biostatistics or related areas of graduate level training is required. At least 2 years of previous experience or training as a statistical consultant/collaborator is required.
