Assistant Professor

Overview: The University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) Business School seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor with primary teaching and research interests in U.S. Taxation. CU Denver has the largest fully AACSB-accredited graduate business school in the Rocky Mountain region. The Accounting Program at CU Denver is separately accredited by AACSB and offers an undergraduate accounting specialization, a Master of Science in Accounting, and a new Master of Science in Taxation. CU Denver, one of four University of Colorado campuses, is located in the heart of Denver's commercial, cultural and recreational district. CU Denver attracts a diverse population, many of whom work while attending school and have significant industry experience. Appointment to begin Fall 2017, or as negotiated, and is dependent on funding availability.

Job Responsibilities: This position includes research, teaching, and service responsibilities in Accounting. We seek scholars who can produce research of excellent quality that can be published in top journals in the accounting area. Teaching loads are commensurate with research oriented faculty and the normal load consists of 4 courses (3 hours each) during the 9-month contract period and may consist of courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. We value faculty who are good corporate citizens and who will contribute to the service needs of the accounting area. Specifically for this position, we seek a colleague interested in contributing to the rapidly growing Master of Science in Taxation program. This position is a full-time tenure-track appointment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in accounting or another appropriate and closely related terminal degree. If candidate does not hold a Ph.D. in accounting or another appropriate and closely related terminal degree, candidate must have an anticipated Ph.D. completion date that occurs prior to the beginning of this appointment. Candidates must have prior research experience OR prior teaching experience in a higher education setting. Candidates with prior academic experience must provide evidence of teaching excellence and a strong record of outstanding publications in top tier accounting or related journals.

Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with a Ph.D. in Accounting from an AACSB accredited university. Significant experience in U.S. Taxation as evidenced by at least one of the following: professional experience, teaching experience, education, or successful research output are highly preferred. Prior experience in BOTH teaching and research in a higher education setting is highly preferred.
