The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Adolescent Medicine has an opening for a 1.0 FTE faculty position open at the rank of instructor for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician's Assistant (PA). This is a clinical position. The NP will be a key member in the Adolescent Family Planning Clinic providing primary care and sexual health services to adolescents and young adults. This clinical position will function from the Children's Hospital Colorado Outpatient Clinics and will rotate between 4 clinic locations throughout the front range. A portion of the clinical time will focus on training nurse practitioner and physician assistant students in an elective rotation through this clinic. The candidate will be expected to provide independent direct clinical services for patients seen in the Adolescent Family Planning Program. Providing health services to adolescents can be complex because of the issues of confidentiality, compliance and follow-up. Experience with and relating to this age group is critical.

The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Adolescent Medicine has an opening for a full-time Instructor. The position will support the Family Planning Clinic, also known as "BC4U"and will assist in building a robust training program for learners doing clinical rotations through the clinic.
Examples of Work Performed:
The candidate will be expected to provide independent direct clinical services for patients seen in the Adolescent Family Planning Clinic. Typical visits are primary care for adolescents and young adults as well as specialty care in reproductive health. Specific duties include detailed patient history, assessment and treatment, relevant screenings and counseling for intimate partner violence, depression and substance abuse as well as patient education and some care coordination. Salary is commensurate with skills and experience.
PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.
- MSN with Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner certification or Physician's Assistant
- 5 years of experience with adolescents and young adults and/or supervising students
Condition of Employment:
Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check
- 2 years' experience in a clinical training environment
- 5 years' experience supporting Women's Health and Adolescents
- Experience working with underserved and vulnerable populations
- Spanish speaking preferred but not required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Providing health services to adolescents can be complex because of issues of confidentiality, compliance and follow-up. Experience with and relating to this age group is critical.
- Understanding of the complexity of caring for adolescent patients.
- Knowledge surrounding practices of the insertion of IUD, Nexplanon, and related procedures
- Ability to diagnose and provide treatment of STIs
- Ability to teach and supervise trainees
- Familiar with practicing delivery of confidential services surrounding sensitive topics such as sexual health, sexually transmitted diseases, dating violence, and other related topics
Salary and Benefits:
The hiring salary for this position is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
