Job Summary:
The University of Colorado Denver l Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking applications for a Terminology Analyst. This full-time, University Staff (non-classified) position will work with healthcare data analysts, developers, and other technical personnel throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle and serve as a critical contact on managing the terminology services through the data warehouse integration process. In addition, this role is responsible for documenting and mapping clinical data to terminology standards for various business needs, and contributing to the monitoring and auditing of value sets and coding systems for quality assurance.
As a subject matter expert, the Terminology Analyst will work with healthcare data analysts, developers, and other technical personnel throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle and serve as a critical contact on managing the terminology services through the data warehouse integration process. This position is responsible for documenting and mapping clinical data to terminology standards for various business needs, and contributing to the monitoring and auditing of value sets and coding systems for quality assurance.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary range has been established at $68,500 - $96,000 and is commensurate will skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in clinical/health care informatics or related healthcare/clinical field
  • Two (2) or more years of medical or health care informatics and terminology related experience.
  • 3+ years total of working experience with any healthcare data, such as data profiling, data quality, data analysis/reporting.
  • Experience working with a healthcare electronic medical record (EMR) system's data model.
  • Progressively increased responsibility in experience working with healthcare data, such as data profiling, data quality, data analysis/reporting.
  • Training in standardized clinical code systems (e.g. SNOMED CT, LOINC, RxNorm), and experience in mapping between code systems.
  • Experience using SQL for data query

*Strong skills with clinical data, knowledge of clinical health care data and practice.
*Demonstrated success working in an integrated environment and working within a cross-functional team, including outstanding written and verbal communication, documentation, and presentation.
*Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, attention to detail and accuracy, and strong inter-personal skills.
*Manage terminology mapping documentation
*Strong ability to communicate with development teams throughout SDLC lifecycle
*Ability to support development of BI dashboards and reports, and data analytic initiatives.
*Ability to develop and maintain processes for managing value sets and coding systems, and update documentation necessary to ensure data integrity is maintained.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in clinical/health care informatics or related healthcare/clinical field
  • Experience with healthcare data warehouses.
  • Experience writing reports using healthcare data against data warehouse like Epic Clarity and/or Star.
