The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the CU School of Medicine has a faculty position at the rank of Instructor for a PA or NP. Under the direction of the faculty, this position provides inpatient and outpatient medical care services at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH). The CT Surgery service is a high volume, high acuity service providing tertiary level care across the entire spectrum of cardiothoracic surgery. The candidate will provide independent clinical services for patients on the CT Surgery service with emphasis on acute/critical care. The candidate will spend most of his/her time providing services in the CT ICU but there may be involvement in the complete spectrum of care from initial patient contact through discharge. Specific inpatient duties of the position include such things as changing invasive lines, pulling/placing chest tubes, adjusting IV medications for blood pressure control, and ventilator management. Collaboration with the clinical team is necessary. The candidate will work some nights and weekends as patient volume and acuity dictate.
Qualifications: Candidates must have graduated from an accredited PA or NP program and be licensed to practice in the state of Colorado. Candidates must be eligible for certification with independent prescriptive authority.
Proper education and licensing/certification for a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. Must be eligible for certification with independent prescriptive authority. Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse professional and patient population.
