Posting Summary:
The Director of the Dathel and John Georges Student Center provides on-site leadership, strengthens partnerships, and supports the University's existing undergraduate academic, career, and personal advising offerings in a newly created centralized location in Clemons Library.

Reporting to the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, the Director of the Dathel and John Georges Student Center will be responsible for forging and strengthening strong collaborative relationships among different student advising programs and enhancing support for students as they progress from their first year through graduation. The Director is also tasked with managing the physical and virtual operations of the Center, which will serve as a focal point for programs to share best practices and implement new approaches designed to enhance student success. Lastly, the Director will work collaboratively with the vice provost to develop a strategic vision for the center in support of "total advising," a holistic approach that integrates academic, career, and personal advising.

The Director's responsibilities (either direct duties or oversight through staff) include: Establish Center goals and strategies; prepare and administer the budget; recruit, hire, and train student staff members; respond to queries about advising programs and make appropriate referrals; coordinate daily events and activities; collect and analyze data on the programs; compile and disseminate program opportunities; maintain websites; ensure smooth operations of Center technologies; perform successful marketing and outreach. Prior work history in higher education and with the University of Virginia is preferred.

Initial appointment is for three years. Additional terms dependent upon availability of funds.
