Postdoctoral Research Associate, SimCenter for Computational Engineering  Requisition # 170000008I 


This position is critical for the continuation and extension of active research programs at the SimCenter for Computational Engineering. Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating closely with faculty members who will direct the research.
  • Researching in high-order solution algorithm development.
  • High-order geometry modeling and mesh generation.
  • Publishing journal articles, research papers, and conference publications
  • Seeking and writing grant proposals.


Ph. D. in Computational Engineering or closely related field is required. Must have proven problem solving skills related to high-order algorithm development and related high-order geometry modeling. Experience with traditional finite-element as well as spectral-element methods, with emphasis on high-order space and time formulations, is required. A comprehensive understanding of the applied mathematics that encompasses these techniques is also required. Must have good communication, both oral and written, and organizational skills. Must have the ability to work independently and to prioritize and accomplish tasks in a timely manner. Proficiency in utilizing CAD and in developing software with modern programming languages such as FORTRAN, C, and C++.
