Dean, College of Business
The College of Business at Kutztown University seeks applicants for the position of Dean to begin August 1, 2017. The Dean is responsible for the overall leadership and excellence of the College of Business and reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The Dean provides oversight for the Department of Business Administration, the Department of Sport Management and Leadership Studies, and the Small Business Development Center. All programs within the College have earned specialized accreditation and provide stimulating intellectual growth and understanding and practical experiences for careers that require the managerial and analytical skills demanded by today's dynamic, global environment. In 2015, the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (i.e.., majors in accounting, finance, management, and marketing) and Master of Business Administration received accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Bachelor of Science in Leisure and Sport Studies received accreditation by the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA). In 2013, the minor in Coaching Administration received accreditation by the National Committee for Accreditation of Coaching Education (NCACE).
Essential to the faculty of the College, the Dean fosters a dynamic teacher/scholar environment. At the same time, the Dean also provides leadership for strategic planning, budget development, faculty and staff evaluation and professional development, outcomes assessment, technological improvement, relationships with the community, and fundraising.
The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a track record of inspiring others and fostering innovation. The Dean should have the experience and professional qualifications necessary to support teamwork, set high standards, and support the mission of a public, comprehensive university. Required Qualifications: The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate in one of the disciplines represented in the College of Business; a minimum of three (3) years administrative experience at the department chair level or above; a minimum of five (5) years teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level; a record of peer reviewed scholarship; experience working with diverse populations; and, experience with budget and financial management processes.
Preferred Qualifications: The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills; experience with initiating and supporting efforts related to student success; demonstrated knowledge of the process of accreditation and experience with AACSB and COSMA standards; fundraising experience; successful engagement and collaboration with college advisory boards; experience working with local and regional businesses; and experience in a collective bargaining environment.
