Essential Job Duties: Dr. Michela Becchi's research group is seeking a postdoctoral research scholar working in the parallel computing area. In particular, the hired candidate will work on a project related to the result reproducibility of scientific applications that include floating point arithmetic on parallel platforms. The project involves work on mathematical modeling, design of compiler and runtime techniques for parallel platforms (including many-core accelerator devices), and experimentation on large-scale scientific simulations. The postdoctoral research scholar will have the flexibility to select one or more specific research themes depending on his/her interests and expertise.
Department Required Skills: Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in appropriate field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics) awarded no more than five (5) years from initial date of postdoctoral appointment. The successful candidate should have a track record of publications in high-quality journals and/or conferences, parallel computing expertise and strong C/C++ programming skills. The candidate must have the ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Depending on the specific research theme(s) selected by the postdoctoral researcher, expertise in one or more of the following areas is desirable: -Mathematical modeling -GPU/Intel Phi architecture and programming -Design of compiler and runtime techniques -Scientific simulations (e.g. molecular dynamics, weather predictions, etc.)
