Degree and Area of Specialization: Ph.D in physics, astronomy, or related field.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience: Two to three years of post Ph.D experience in astrophysics, particle physics, or astroparticle physics are required. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in data analysis and detector development in neutrino, gamma ray, or cosmic ray physics.
Position Summary: The Bahcall Fellowship position is offered through the Wisconsin IceCube Particle Astrophysics Center (WIPAC), a research center within the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. WIPAC is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the IceCube Neutrino Observatory, a kilometer-scale neutrino detector at the South Pole. The IceCube Collaboration is an international organization of scientists who collectively participate in IceCube research to study high-energy neutrinos from cosmic sources.
