The University of Virginia seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Director in the Office of the Dean of Students/Fraternity & Sorority Life. The position is a full-time, twelve month University Managerial and Professional Staff position with benefits. The Assistant Director works closely with the fraternity and sorority community at the University, including undergraduate members, alumni advisers, community stakeholders, and international headquarters staff. In collaboration with these stakeholders, the position aims to advance the fraternal experience by focusing on scholarship, leadership, service, diversity, self-governance, and honor. The Assistant Director serves as a liaison to four Greek Governing Councils and their respective chapters. Additionally, the Assistant Director directly supervises one Graduate Intern. Reporting to the Assistant Dean and Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life, the Assistant Director will provide leadership to the Fraternity & Sorority Life unit by fostering a collaborative work environment and advancing strategic priorities for Greek-letter organizations.
Candidates for the position must have a Master's degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration, or other equivalent field, with a minimum of two years of relevant post-Master's experience. Strong preference will be given to applicants with 2 - 4 years of relevant post-Master's experience. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated mastery of working with fraternity/sorority communities, student organizations, and leadership education, as well as a commitment to - and ability to operate effectively in a system of student self-governance. The successful candidate will also have exceptional organizational and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.

Demonstrated ability in designing, implementing, and evaluating educational tools related to fraternity and sorority life, student leadership, and organizational development.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations where competing priorities exist.
Knowledge of student development theory and philosophy.
Ability and willingness to attend some meetings and programs outside of normal working hours (evening and weekend work).
Ability to communicate and work effectively with a wide range of constituents.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and problem solving.
