TITLE OF POSITION/RANK: Paramedic Instructor (Tenure Track)
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Paramedic Department is seeking a full-time Instructor to teach Emergency Medical Services (EMS) courses in the Paramedic Certificate and Paramedic A.A.S programs as well as proposed future Community Paramedic curricula. These curricula include all aspects of Emergency Medical Services as required by the Committee on Accreditation of EMS Programs (CoAEMSP). In addition to teaching responsibilities, the candidate is expected to participate in curriculum/organizational updates and improvements, development of additional program offerings, courses and curricula, laboratory facility development and maintenance, student advisement, departmental, college activities and active involvement with student clubs and local professional organizations. The position is tenure track with a teaching load of fifteen (15) contact hours, plus a minimum of five (5) office hours per week.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Master’s degree in a health related field with experience in teaching undergraduate college students in either the classroom, clinical setting or laboratory is required. Certification as a Paramedic and a minimum one (1) year of related work experience in the field is required. Ability to teach all levels of EMS certification courses (EMT, Paramedic, original and refresher) and familiarization with CoAEMSP standards and guidelines is required. Completion of the Level 1 Instructor Course of the National Association of EMS Educators and certification as a NY State EMS Instructor Coordinator is highly desirable. An understanding of the healthcare system and community health and human service administration, as well as experience with EMS system management is highly desirable. Experience with medical simulation and the technical aspects of equipment necessary to conduct simulation exercises is highly desirable.
POSITION EFFECTIVE: Fall 2017
SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $57,415 plus excellent benefits.
