Instructor of Accounting - Tenure Track

TITLE OF POSITION/RANK: Instructor of Accounting (Tenure track)
RESPONSIBILITIES: Westchester Community College's Accounting Department seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track instructor capable of teaching accounting and finance courses at the foundational level through intermediate accounting. Knowledge of various manual and computerized accounting procedures and the latest FASB pronouncements is essential. Department faculty are often asked to teach federal income taxation, payroll accounting and the mathematics of finance; consequently, knowledge and experience teaching these subjects is also very helpful. The position requires teaching 15 contact hours plus a minimum of five (5) office hours per week. In addition, the instructor is responsible for updating and developing courses, curricula, and assessment methods; providing academic and career advisement to students. The instructor is expected to participate in department, school and college-wide committees, initiatives and events as well as professional development activities, and to keep abreast of trends in Accounting on all levels.
QUALIFICATIONS: MBA along with the achievement of professional designations in accounting and/or finance and a minimum of one (1) year of college teaching experience is required. Evidence of at least three (3) years of teaching experience at the college level is strongly desired.
POSITION EFFECTIVE: Fall 2017
SALARY AND BENEFITS: The starting salary is $57,415 plus excellent benefits.
