The University of North Texas Library is seeking to hire an Academic Financial Officer to join our team. The Academic Financial Officer for the Libraries Finance and Administration Office will provide subject matter expertise and serve as a functional lead for all finance and budget processes for the UNT libraries. The Academic Financial Officer will undertake a wide variety of activities required to oversee library operational and project budgets and accounting, including purchasing, financial planning, budgetary processes, and other related administrative functions. As a member of the Dean's leadership team, the budget officer will work closely with the Dean of Libraries and other members to forecast and predict resource requirements for new and existing programs, and develop funding strategies to ensure financial sustainability. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:* Based on estimated revenues and with guidance from Dean of Libraries, analyzes and prepares annual budget for University Budget Office with amounts allocated to salaries, student wages, library materials and maintenance and operations categories of expenses. * Sets up budgetary processes related to library accounts. Oversees the reconciliation of monthly statements for purchase card holders. * Provides Library budget information and financial reports to Dean of Libraries, Provost's Office, and Budget Office. Makes projections and reports on budget status. * Interprets policies and procedures for faculty, administrators, and staff. Disseminates advice to faculty, administrators and staff. * Conducts cost studies, collects and analyzes data, and prepares statistical reports. Assists in assessment activities as assigned. * Prepares revenue projections based on enrollment trends. * Formulates expenditure projections based on cost trends for library materials, possible increases or decreases in salary, wage, and fringe benefit cost. * Monitors all expenditures for total Library budget of more than $18,000,000. Tracks Library Materials budget of $6,400,000 using Integrated Library System. Prepares, monitors and maintains expenditures within budgets. * Serves on Dean's Council. Advises on administrative, and finance policies and processes. * Reviews UNT Press financial reports. * Utilizes thorough knowledge of University fiscal and academic policy, procedure and practices. Practices sound business management principles, polices and techniques. Advises Dean of Libraries on budgetary compliance. * Able to work in a busy, office environment, adjust to constant changes, handle multiple tasks and coordinate the work of others. * Provides guidance and training to library employees in budgetary matters. Creates documentation supporting university financial procedures and processes. * Serves on work groups and search committees as assigned * Supervises all M&O expenditures for Libraries (approximately $2M). Coordinates expenditures for facilities and technology with the Director of the Libraries' Office of Facilities and Systems. * Works with the Office of Finance and Assets Management to calculate value of Libraries' collections as UNT asset. * May provide supervision to office staff members. * Responds to inquiries about budget issues utilizing excellent communication skills.* Keeps up to date on training related to the new Chart of Accounts. Bachelor's Degree with coursework in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field and six years of progressively responsible financial administration or budget management experience. Additional education may be substituted for required experience. Experience may not be substituted for education.
