The CAS-Student Services Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire an Academic Advisor II to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: * Familiarize students with general requirements for Mathematics and Science majors. * Review majors/degree programs in UAchieve and degree audit system for accuracy of requirements. * Review four year plans and other catalog copy as specified. * Perform graduation checks and process graduation applications for graduating seniors. * Advise students with problems or questions as they arise and inform students of discrepancies. * Serve as marshal or as needed in commencement ceremony. * Represent the college at functions such as recruitment events and Preview Days. * Assist in creating and updating major/degree articulation guides for area community colleges. * Evaluate transfer course application toward University Core and CAS requirements. * Assist with advising for Freshman and Transfer Orientations.The University of North Texas System is firmly committed to equal opportunity and does not permit - and takes actions to prevent - discrimination, harassment (including sexual violence), and retaliation on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, family status, genetic information, citizenship or veteran status in its application and admission processes, educational programs and activities, facilities, and employment practices. The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree and two years of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, or professional academic advising. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:* Considerable knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate)* Knowledge of Texas rules and regulations related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate)* Strong presentation skills* Strong problem solving skills* Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing* Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships* Ability to work independently
