This is a position that provides administrative support to the Caruth Police Institute. CPI is a fast-growing, independent grant-funded institute located at the Dallas Police Department. CPI provides management and leadership professional development opportunities to promote transformational change in law enforcement and criminal justice. In addition, CPI provides non-partisan research to support evidence-based practices in policing. For more information on CPI, go to: http://www.untdallas.edu/cpiAn employee in this class performs a variety of administrative support tasks that are non-routine and non-repetitive in nature, and require the use of independent judgment and initiative. The individual is usually responsible for determining methods and procedures to be used, priority of assignments, and necessity for review by the administrator. Work includes public contact in interpreting and promoting the campus programs, and rendering administrative decisions. Work is performed under general supervision, with assignments typically reflecting continuing responsibility for designated activities. An employee in this class may supervise full-time and part-time employees.Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:* Coordinates the operations of a complex or large office.* Assist with various aspects of program coordination including setting up, facilitating classes, including assisting with the first/last day of class for long and specialized classes (set up, vendor assistance and teardown), monitoring classes when required, preparing course certificates and facilitating class photos. * Maintain databases and other materials necessary for successful programs, including reviewing course modules to include new materials, preparing and maintaining course tablets and thumb drives, creating and managing class binder and managing graduate/alumni/faculty databases.* Coordinates the gathering of information and preparation of schedules, reports, and analyses.* Plans or edits brochures or official publications.* Supervises inventories of supplies.* Performs secretarial functions for the executive director and other CPI employees, including managing phones, emails and mail distribution.* Maintain/build CPI Library and monitor websites/Twitter social media news links for professional publications and current events. * Prepares purchase orders.* Manage PCard charges.* Prepares travel vouchers and accounts for the expenditure of travel funds.* Makes recommendations for and implements changes in policies and procedures.* Provides administrative support for periodic and special projects.* Follows appropriate safety and security precautions related to work performed.* Other duties as assigned.The University of North Texas System is firmly committed to equal opportunity and does not permit - and takes actions to prevent - discrimination, harassment (including sexual violence), and retaliation on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, family status, genetic information, citizenship or veteran status in its application and admission processes, educational programs and activities, facilities, and employment practices.
