The Assistant Director will work with the Associate Vice President and other Office of Innovation and Commercialization staff to formulate methodologies for creating value from the intellectual property developed by UNT faculty and staff. Crucial to this role is building strong relationships with the faculty inventors to drive innovation on campus. The Assistant Director will be responsible for generating disclosures and managing patent strategies for the assigned faculty and technical areas. Additionally, the Assistant Director will work with faculty to establish clear strategies for the commercialization of such IP. Finally, the Assistant Director will lead marketing campaigns to move the IP into the commercial stream, including sourcing licensees, developing spin-out companies, negotiating licenses, and ensuring that success is communicated to UNT stakeholders. * Corporate Engagement: UNT's research capabilities are relevant to a wide variety of commercial activities from manufacturing to software. From early-stage, fundamental research to cutting-edge design and improvement of current manufacturing, UNT has a great opportunity to increase its research drastically by increasing its connections with industry. The Assistant Director will work with his/her assigned faculty to develop corporate research strategies and implement those plans into sponsored research projects with industry. It is expected the Assistant Director may not start with the skill set, but will be able to learn these skills through interaction with the Associate Vice President. * Awareness: The Assistant Director will work with faculty, students and staff to ensure they understand the office and how intellectual property management impact their relationships with UNT and the communities with whom they interact. Additionally, the Assistant Director will represent UNT at various local and federal meetings to promote UNT and the Office of Innovation and Commercialization. The University of North Texas System is firmly committed to equal opportunity and does not permit - and takes actions to prevent - discrimination, harassment (including sexual violence), and retaliation on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, family status, genetic information, citizenship or veteran status in its application and admission processes, educational programs and activities, facilities, and employment practices.
