General Description of Position:

This position teaches undergraduate level courses in Aviation Maintenance Management program and provides leadership and strategic direction for program support, sustainability, and improvement.

 

For Non-Tenure Track Instructor Rank:

  • Nine-month appointment, expected effort would be 80% teaching, 20% service.
  • Develop and deliver nationally recognized, quality undergraduate learning experiences.
  • Mentor career development of undergraduate students.
  • Create an environment that fosters inclusiveness and collegiality.
  • Collaborate with industry representatives to ensure the program's curriculum meets changing needs of industry.
  • Lead the continuous improvement and assessment efforts within the program.
  • Collaborate with the Academic Director on course scheduling for the program.
  • Work directly with professional advisers on issues related to student advising and retention within the program.
  • Collaborate with admissions and communications and marketing on program recruitment activities and materials for the program.
  • Serve as FAA liaison for the program.

 For Non-Tenure Track Teaching Assistant Professor Rank:

  • Nine-month appointment, expected effort would be 70% teaching, 25% service, 5% scholarship.
  • Develop and deliver nationally recognized, quality undergraduate learning experiences.
  • Mentor career development of undergraduate students.
  • Create an environment that fosters inclusiveness and collegiality.
  • Collaborate with industry representatives to ensure the program's curriculum meets changing needs of industry.
  • Lead the continuous improvement and assessment efforts within the program.
  • Collaborate with the Academic Director on course scheduling for the program.
  • Work directly with professional advisers on issues related to student advising and retention within the program.
  • Collaborate with admissions and communications and marketing on program recruitment activities and materials for the program.
  • Serve as FAA liaison for the program.

 For Tenure Track Assistant Professor Rank (Ph.D. required):

  • Nine-month appointment, expected effort would be 65% teaching, 25% service, 10% scholarship.
  • Develop and deliver nationally recognized, quality undergraduate learning experiences.
  • Mentor career development of undergraduate students.
  • Create an environment that fosters inclusiveness and collegiality.
  • Collaborate with industry representatives to ensure the program's curriculum meets changing needs of industry.
  • Lead the continuous improvement and assessment efforts within the program.
  • Collaborate with the Academic Director on course scheduling for the program.
  • Work directly with professional advisers on issues related to student advising and retention within the program.
  • Collaborate with admissions and communications and marketing on program recruitment activities and materials for the program.
  • Serve as FAA liaison for the program.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Aviation or closely related field
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
  • Three (3) years minimum technical experience in the aviation maintenance industry
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years minimum successful teaching experience in higher education in a FAA Part 147 program
  • Earned doctorate in a relevant discipline (for tenure track appointment)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment and with students, faculty, and administration
  • Ability to connect to the aviation industry
