Work Conditions

Work is indoors and outdoors at times. Physical activities include light to medium work. Includes lifting up to 40 lbs. such as computer equipment, off-shore power cord, student materials, and related furniture and equipment. Ability to move between office, classrooms, and Harper extension sites for set up and testing required. Valid Illinois License required. Flexible scheduling with occasional weekends required.

Duties of Position

Develops the Mobile Unit service plan in consultation with the Workforce Certification Center Manager. Coordinates all aspects of implementation of the Mobile Unit service plan including, but not limited to: calendar, billing, maintenance, navigation, marketing, effectiveness measures, coordination with other College units.

 Serves as the primary point of contact for the Mobile Unit and serves as a resource to the Harper College community, local school districts, consortium of community colleges, and regional Workforce Service Providers. Support Harper's workforce development and academic programs by providing community residents, educators, and businesses with access to validating work-required skills in a one-stop location.

Responsible for generating funds to cover all direct and indirect expenses generated by the Mobil Unit including driver, instructor, and proctor salaries. Monitors the budget status related to the Mobile Unit on an ongoing basis and reports budget status regularly to the Workforce Certification Center Manager.

Directs the day-to-day activities of the Mobile Unit. Schedules events and instructors, maintains calendar, and submits related documentation to meet divisional timelines.

Prepares rental contracts, invoices, training plans and testing procedures for Mobile Unit events.

Maintains the upkeep of Mobile Unit and HPC computer equipment to ensure 90% up-time; includes security, cleanliness, and functionality.

Serves as liaison between CE, IT and Physical Plant departments for the purpose of maintenance and installations. Troubleshoots computer problems for the Mobile Unit.

Responsible for ensuring the required maintenance for the Mobile Unit is addressed by Physical Plant and external Repair Service Vendors. Accountable for ordering MU supplies from approved vendors.

Ensures technology and software licensing is maintained and updated per vendor contracts for Mobile Unit computer equipment. Maintains software asset control and technology equipment inventories for Mobile unit.

Identifies new product and marketing opportunities. Conducts ongoing needs analysis of the business community; develops plans that improve Mobile Unit programs and services to meet the needs of businesses.

Develops and prepares marketing materials including brochures, fliers, web, postcards, and course schedule.

Responsible for the monitoring of all vocational/career tests (tracking, scoring and inventorying supplies) taking place on the Mobile Unit. Ensures correct tester identification procedures are followed as identified by the testing vendor and the secure administration of assessments.

Supports instructors, staff, or testers including classroom lecterns, computer testing stations, and other support functions as needed, when Harper IT is unable to support.

Supports Workforce Certification Center (WCC) and serves as a backup proctor or check-in administrator for tests as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred in related field. Instructional experience and relevant computer industry certifications preferred such as CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of two years' experience in computer training, certification testing or related field. Excellent communication, project management, and coordination skills required. Experience in adult or continuing education preferred. Technical background required and experience with recreation vehicles a preferred. Should have knowledge in installing computer hardware, software and peripherals. CDL and Experience driving large vehicles preferred.  Valid Illinois License required.

Equipment/Tools used

Utilizes standard office equipment, including computers, in order to perform the duties of the job. Drive large mobile Unit (40'), including navigation, and setup.
