Computer Sciences and Engineering
Founded in 1919, AUC moved to a new 270-acre state-of-the-art campus in New Cairo in 2008. The University also operates in its historic downtown facilities, offering cultural events, graduate classes, and continuing education. Student housing is available in New Cairo. Among the premier universities in the region, AUC is Middle States accredited; its Engineering programs are accredited by ABET, its Chemistry program is accredited by the Canadian Society for Chemistry, and the School of Business is accredited by AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS. The AUC Libraries contain the largest English-language research collection in the region and are an active and integral part of the University's pursuit of excellence in all academic and scholarly programs. AUC is an English-medium institution; eighty-five percent of the students are Egyptian and the rest include students from nearly ninety countries, principally from the Middle East, Africa and North America. The School of Sciences and Engineering at the American University in Cairo has openings for two faculty positions within its Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor.
The successful candidate for any of these positions is expected to be active or capable of developing research and provide services in his/her field of specialization.
We are particularly interested in one of these areas Digital Signal Processing, Digital Design, Computer Networks or Software Engineering. Applicants with other computing specializations could also apply for this position. In particular, we are interested in candidates with demonstrable experience with Big Data Analytics, Informatics, Gaming, or Internet of Things. A successful candidate must have a solid disciplinary foundation and demonstrate promise of outstanding scholarship in every respect, including research and teaching. A PhD in computer science or computer engineering is required.
We seek applicants who are enthusiastic about their profession and undergraduate and graduate education with classroom and laboratory teaching experience, and are highly motivated researchers capable of leading a project and training students with passion and enthusiasm. Translational experience beyond the didactic is highly desirable, as are demonstrable evidence of disciplinary and interdisciplinary interests and collaboration.
Position is open until filled. The appointment will ideally start Fall 2017.
