Job Summary/Basic Function: Perimeter College at Georgia State University seeks an accomplished educator and artist in classical piano for a tenure-track, nine-month faculty position in music. The successful candidate will collaborate with fine arts colleagues to create a rigorous and dynamic learning environment that prepares a diverse student population for further collegiate education and careers in music. Primary teaching responsibilities will consist of applied piano for majors, minors and secondaries and the group piano sequence for music majors. Other teaching assignments will be based on the candidate's expertise and the needs of the music program, such as the beginning non-major piano course, concert attendance, music appreciation, or music theory. The successful candidate will maintain a regional profile through performance and/or research, will recruit quality piano majors to the music program, and will maintain professional relationships with piano faculty at the Georgia State University School of Music and other four year colleges and universities in the region. Duties will also include coordination with the part-time piano faculty, advisement of music students, and service on college and university committees. This a full-time, tenure track position located at Perimeter College.
Required Experience: Prior teaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level, desired.
Required Education: Completed doctorate in piano preferred; ABD with specific completion date will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications: Successful college teaching experience and a high level of performance ability expected. Ability to recruit students is essential. Experience in jazz or CCM styles is welcome but not required.
