The Mount Holyoke College Counseling Service is seeking two Post-Doctoral Fellows to join our clinical team. We provide mental health services, outreach programming, and consultation to a vibrant and diverse community of engaged learners. Our staff is part of a cohesive, forward-thinking Division of Student Life team committed to social justice and the college’s mission of preparing graduates for lives of thoughtful, effective, and purposeful engagement in the world.

Mount Holyoke is a private, liberal arts, gender-inclusive women’s college located in western Massachusetts. Our 2,189 students hail from 45 states and 74 countries. Approximately twenty-five percent of MHC students are international students, and 27 percent of our domestic students identify as African American, Asian American, Latinx, Native American, or multiracial. Mount Holyoke is part of the Five College Consortium, providing students with access to classes and resources at Amherst, Hampshire, and Smith Colleges, and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.


The Post-Doctoral Fellowship is a full-time, 37.5 hour/week, 10-month position. Responsibilities include intake assessment and referral, brief individual psychotherapy, group counseling, crisis assessment and intervention (including after hours on call coverage), outreach, and consultation/collaboration with the campus community.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have completed all degree requirements for a doctorate in an APA-accredited counseling or clinical psychology program and be on target to complete an APA-accredited internship by August 2017. Applicants must have supervised experience working in a college counseling environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidates will share our commitment to cultural competence and ongoing personal and professional development. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in the provision of clinical and outreach services to students who identify as domestic Students of Color, international citizens, transgender or gender non-conforming, and first generation/low income. In addition, there may be opportunities for participation in the development of a new positive psychology/happiness living and learning community with our partners in Residential Life. Must be a team player; sense of humor and positive attitude appreciated. A two year commitment is preferred but not necessary.

We are a unified, committed multidisciplinary team that values the learning process, enjoys supervision, and strives to provide a supportive, positive, and fun learning environment. Fellows will accumulate clinical hours that meet requirements for licensure in the state of Massachusetts. We provide 2.5 hours of individual and group supervision/week and Fellows will participate in morning rounds, weekly intake meeting, and full staff professional development seminar. Fellows will develop skills and knowledge in the areas of crisis assessment and intervention, intake assessment and diagnosis, brief dynamic psychotherapy, group therapy, outreach programming, collaboration with campus partners, and the provision of culturally competent services guided by the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
