Facility Services Technician
Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking a Facility Services Technician. This position performs skilled maintenance, repair and construction of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, and building structures. Responsibilities may include coordinating efforts with contractors; planning for supplies and equipment; installing, maintaining and repairing HVAC, plumbing, and electrical equipment; constructing walls, buildings, cabinets, bookcases or similar items; operating light equipment and performing preventive maintenance; and maintaining records of activities.
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.), and five (5) years of experience in facilities maintenance activities; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of: Applicable system maintenance, repair and installation principles and methods; Equipment operating and maintenance techniques; Construction and maintenance principles; Recordkeeping principles; Safety procedures; Computers and related software applications.
Skill in: Building, repairing, and maintaining facility structures; Identifying and repairing/replacing unsafe equipment; Maintaining records and logs; Using a computer and related software applications; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, driving, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, intense noises and travel.
