Job Description Summary

Responsible for the design and storyboarding processes related to college-wide projects as well as the project management of those projects from genesis to completion. Works closely with both faculty and administrative departments to design pedagogically effective and innovative learning designs for both interactive learning objects and courses. Recommends new online learning technologies and emerging pedagogical models, focusing on the practical application of theory.



Job Responsibilities

• Serves as lead project manager and designer for college-wide projects in collaboration with the Office of Online Learning and Academic Technology
• Manages, designs, and storyboards training for faculty and students in the college's LMS (Blackboard) and other Online Learning Academic Technologies
• Assists with implementation of Quality Matters throughout the institution
• Partners with the Centers for Learning Excellence to develop training materials for faculty that include course development guides and effective practices' documents
• May assist with the design and facilitation of faculty development programs including faculty learning communities, workshops and seminars related to pedagogical and technical strategies
• Serves as an expert consultant for other College divisions, advising on projects and needs analysis
• Explores new course design strategies and technologies that could be used by the College to support the design and development of face-to-face, online and hybrid courses
• Performs other duties as assigned



Required Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
• Master's Degree in education, adult learning, instructional design, or related field
o Significant related experience may substitute for education
• Minimum of four years of experience in instructional design
• Demonstrated experience with a variety of online technology tools working with at least one LMS
• Demonstrated experience as a teacher, trainer, and/or professional development instructor for adult learners or some combination of teaching experience
• Demonstrated experience effectively making decisions that have major implications on the management and operations within a department
• Demonstrated effectiveness in a role requiring dynamic and abstract problem solving methods in adaptive situations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
• Possess thorough understanding of pedagogical principles in relationship to adult learners and Competency-Based Education, digital badging, gamification, etc.
• Possess working knowledge of emerging design model concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus
• Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and time efficiently
• Ability to recruit students and promote student success
• Ability to be creative and exercise initiative
• Possess strong organizational and time-management skills
• Completes work accurately with great attention to detail
• Ability to effectively complete work assignments independently

• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and quality

• Demonstrated experience with Quality Matters including QM certification, certifications, or certified courses
• Demonstrated experience with Blackboard
• Involvement in WCET, Educause, OLC, or other professional organizations

• Familiarity with Adobe Connect, Respondus, StudyMate, Captivate, Adobe Presenter, Storyline and/or other synchronous and asynchronous online learning development tools
