The College of Mathematics and Science currently has 135 full-time and over 75 part-time faculty in 7 academic departments. Position Summary:

An Instructor provides a quality learning experience for students on a semester basis. Adjunct faculty reports to a dean or chair and performs instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. The relationship of the adjunct faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position and can be continued or terminated for the following academic year if not recommended by the chair/director or dean.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Teach 9/9/3 load at all levels of the graduate and undergraduate curriculum and in online and campus-based formats.

Teaching will typically focus on starting or bringing innovations to a program specifically in computational science areas, but can extend beyond the parameters of the program to meet needs of the assigned college and may also include team teaching to support sharing of innovative blended learning methods with staff and faculty.

Strategically develop and maintain a network of industry and other external organizational partners. Develop and innovate new courses and programs to serve industry and external organizational partner needs.

Work with campus entrepreneurship programs to identify potential partnerships between colleges and outside organizations.

Advance and align with goals of CeCE within the context of empowering blended learning.

Contribute to faculty development, mentoring, and training responsibilities focused on blended learning.

Complete Edu-Innovator training programs for blended learning environment design and delivery, leadership development, and online course facilitation as arranged and provided by The Center for eLearning and Connected Environments.

Collaborate with other Edu-Innovator team members.

Advance interdisciplinary connections and partnerships.

Develop strong connections between the program and the OKC metropolitan area and UCO Downtown.

Promote growth in courses, undergraduate and graduate programs, and student learning experiences.

Dedicate 3 hours reassigned time of the fall and spring normal 12-hour teaching load to developing new projects and advancing initiatives as determined by the assigned college in collaboration with CeCE.

Develop at least one active innovation project, the topic for which will be selected by the assigned college and CeCE. Possibilities could include new program research and planning, program redesign, development of innovative teaching or course design methods, design and delivery of specialized curriculum or student success resources, and so on.

Coordinate innovative opportunities for practicing professionals serving as adjuncts to work with students and develop programing.

Serve on department, college, university, and Center for eLearning committees as requested.

Work in a collaborative, professional, collegial manner with colleagues and professional peers.

Teach, advise, and mentor students, evaluate student performance, and maintain department and student records in accordance with university policies.

Demonstrate commitment to working in an environment devoted to transformative learning, professional development, scholarly inquiry and excellence in teaching.

Participate in department, college, university, and Center for eLearning meetings that relate specifically to faculty.

Prepare departmental reports as requested.

Adhere to the educational philosophy of the university.

Salary Range: Commensurate with credentials and experience.
