Duties: We are seeking a full-time clinical research coordinator to lead various components of studies focusing on decision making for seriously ill patients. Ongoing study support is needed for: (1) day-to-day operations and recruitment of patients with serious illnesses for a study to understand their preferences for receiving predictive information about their health (2) day-to-day operations, patient recruitment, semi-structured interviewing, and qualitative analysis for a study exploring the utility of an online platform for advance directive completion (3) day-to-day operations and recruitment of patients for an RCT exploring the effectiveness of an online platform for advance care planning and palliative care consultation among patients being considered for stem cell transplantation. Under supervision of the Assistant Director of the FIELDS Program the CRC's primary responsibilities will include engaging with clinics at multiple health care sites to recruit participants, screening for eligible participants using electronic health records, approaching and interviewing patients and their caregivers about sensitive topics such as advance care planning and end-of-life care, assisting with IRB documentation and compliance, maintaining study databases, and assisting with the preparation of materials to disseminate study results.

Recruit patients and caregivers from clinical settings and administer in-person surveys
Perform outreach to and manage study logistics with multiple clinical sites
Screen patients' electronic health records for study eligibility
Conduct semi-structured interviews with patients with serious illnesses
Participate in qualitative (content) analysis of transcribed data
Maintain study databases including online survey platforms
Assist with IRB documentation and compliance
Attend team meetings
Prepare and review materials for study result dissemination and grant applications
Travel among health care sites within the greater Philadelphia area, typically within the city of Philadelphia

Qualifications: Minimum of a BA/BS and 1 to 3 years of clinical trial/clinical research experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. The successful candidate must have outstanding interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Strong computer skills are essential. The candidate should be comfortable doing a variety of tasks, be able to balance and prioritize multiple commitments, and be proficient at multi-tasking and independent problem solving. Experience with qualitative research methods is preferred but can be taught to the appropriate and enthusiastic candidate. Knowledge of IRB and human research protection regulations is preferred. This study involves work in clinical settings with seriously ill patients including those with past or present tobacco dependence, and therefore candidates must have skills and demonstrated experience successfully working with diverse populations and handling sensitive information; experience in a health care setting is preferred.
