Job Summary/Basic Function: The College of Arts and Sciences seeks applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure-track appointment beginning in Fall 2017. The appointment is for an Assistant Professor of Sociology with a preferred background in mixed methods and/or qualitative or ethnographic methods. Specialization is open but we particularly welcome candidates with expertise in social inequality and/or Intersectionality (race, class, and gender); popular culture or media studies; or environmental justice and inequality. The successful candidate will teach introductory level Sociology courses as well as upper-level undergraduate courses in the area of specialization and related fields. The College seeks excellence in instruction, research, and service. The regular teaching load is 4/4. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed.
Work Hours: Depends on course schedule. Teaching assignments may include day, night and weekend classes.

Necessary Qualifications: A Ph.D. degree in Sociology, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Sociology.
Necessary Qualifications: A minimum of one year college or university teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Willingness to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Broad training in Sociology and experience teaching mixed methods and/or qualitative or ethnographic methods. Familiarity with the needs of a non-traditional, first-generation, culturally diverse student body. Familiarity with high-impact educational practices such as cooperative education, service learning, and undergraduate research.
